CRASHING THE STATES: It's a project about...YOU!!!

CRASHING THE STATES is off to a great start!

From Lamont to Tester to Courage to Webb, we're raring to go.

Already, we've been contacted by a number of campaigns and candidates eager to work with us and bloggers willing to help in a myriad of capacities. Thank you all so much for the donations many of you have already sent. They have enabled us to arrange some basic pre-production, as well as retain legal counsel to help guide us through a 'series of tubes' known as FEC regulations we'd like to follow so we don't get run over by the 'dump truck' of election law--and the best part is, our lawyer is a fellow blogger!  You've enabled us to get a GREAT start for this project, and we wouldn't be nearly where we are without your initial support.

So what now? We'll tell ya...

Sierra Club responds: Reaffirms desire to re-elect Chafee!

How is it possible for a "leading" national environmental organization to support the re-election of a vulnerable rubber stamp Republican when the future of American Democracy itself is in the balance? How can the Sierra Club be so eager to return a Republican majority to the Senate? A majority that has completely slashed 30 years of environmental progress, that facilitates the looting of America's resources, that fights to poison and pollute our citizens, that completely sabotages any attempt to address global warming, and that is beholden to nefarious oil companies?

Complete insanity!!! That's the only explanation. Follow me below the fold to see the Sierra Club's response to my letter.

A Permission Slip for Republicans

Since the divide between being an American and a Republican is as great as the divide between democracy and totalitarian fascism, I propose that all these Republicans who support warrantless wiretapping, torture, deprivation of legal council, and unlimited executive powers put their name on the dotted line. Why not start a signature drive whereby these Republican patriots prove their allegiance to their leader by waiving the very rights they so venomously oppose. I suggest a form like this, designed to look like an "official" party document mailed to each registered Republican in a manner consistent with "official" party correspondence with a tracking number and a reminder that they are being watched:
